Namasthe, welcome to our kitchen - a small Aotearoa sanctuary to the tantalising aromas and tastes of Southern India (Kerala style) cuisine. Locals and visitors to New Plymouth may recall our original flagship offering, under “Kathakali Restaurant”. While the name Kathakali is no more, the legend of fine Kerala cuisine in New Plymouth, cradled in Kathakali has grown-up into the sophisticated and modern offerings of its off-springs - Arranged Marriage New Plymouth and Arranged Marriage Palmerston North.

Key to our success since, is our unwavering mantra of providing our valued diners with an authentic Southern India dining experience at a truly affordable price. The friendly professional dispositions of our kitchen and front of house team in delivering on this mantra is harmonious, yet uncompromising. This is evidenced through our excellent Trip Advisor ranking and none more than the hum of a full restaurant of smiling and happy customers - many of whom are repeat guests we know and greet by name.

Our story, the story of Arranged Marriage embodies the story of people from a faraway land who have embraced their new found homeland, put in the mahi, learned the local culture and are proud to have made a pulpable difference to their local hospitality landscape.

The fusion of the local customs and mana whenua of the local Iwi (Te Atiawa) with the local traditions of our (Sree’s and Jacob’s) birthplaces were a common thread woven together adroitly by local architect Murali Bhasker (principal of Boon Architects) in the Arranged Marriage name and fit-out.
